Scott Hollingsworth is a Texas magician, author, inventor, and teacher who has devoted more than five decades to the art of magic. A pioneer of restaurant magic, he authored Cashing in with Close-Up, one of the earliest books devoted specifically to performing magic in restaurants. His work combined practical sleight-of-hand with the theatrical and business demands of professional performance.

Hollingsworth is perhaps best known for his 27 years as resident magician and Entertainment Director at Magic Island, Houston’s renowned five-star magic dinner theater. During his tenure, he performed and refined routines through tens of thousands of shows while booking and mentoring many of the magicians who appeared there. Magic Island became an important training ground for professional performers, and Hollingsworth’s guidance helped shape a generation of Texas and visiting magicians.

Through his performances, writings, lectures, and mentorship, Hollingsworth has made a lasting contribution to the history of Texas magic.
